Now that the excellent Lootpack album has finally hit store shelves, prepare yourselves for Quasimoto. Don’t tell nobody, but what Quasi actually is, is a different persona of the Lootpack’s Madlib, so essentially, this is the first taste of another Lootpack project. “Microphone Mathmatics” has the helium induced emcee, over some SP-liced jazz samples, cutting up vocals from De La Soul. “Disicpline 99″ is a phat collaboration with the rest of the Lootpack, while “Low Class Conspiracy” shares mic time with Madlib, over a dope arrangement of dusty breaks, and a scratch during the bridge that matches the sample. It kind of seems that Quasi’s project is much more underground than Lootpack’s more accessable style. It may be too experimental for some, but for the most part I’m feeling it.
