Alchemist has a way with music, that he somehow creates these tracks that somehow instantly turn into classics backdrops, no matter who the emcee. Secondly, unlike Swizz Beatz or DJ Premier or Dr. Dre or any other top notch producer, he doesn’t seem yet to have a signature sound, he just keeps creating memerorable, musically pleasing soundscapes. Severe’s new record proves Alchemist’s consistency once again, as he provides O.C. and Severe with “If Words Could Kill”. It didn’t seem like much to me at first, but the third time I heard it, I realized how much I was feeling it. The flipside, “My Way”, also produced by Alchemist, doesn’t have quite the same effect, but nevertheless shows quality.
