The sight of things have changed a little bit since The Nonce  debut World Ultimate dropped. Not so many kids leisurely flip through old mix tapes and check for the honeys at the bus stops, as they have traded in their playful positively for super-scienifical thugged-out exoskeletons in order to parlay properly in 9-8. “But 2-G is coming up, we ain’t got time to kick rhymes and make beats, we gotta get dat cream, nah’mean”? Well not really, and neither do many people, The Nonce included.

If you copped the bouncy single that dropped this past summer, then you’ve heard “Live & Direct” and “Articulate With Math” the album’s opener and closer. That leaves us with 5 tracks to feast on, time to dig in: “The Greatest MC’s” is a pleasantly sprinkled with pianos and vibes making for quite a relaxing listen, unfortunately at times the mood gets killed by somewhat forced and bungled vocals by the rappers. The title track (“The Sight Of Things”) is a down-tempo collage-like introspective at the world’s current state of affairs and that we don’t need to look too far past our own brother to find a person to confide in. “Checkbook” is a sinister bass-driven head nod about the game of life and the game of money and how they go hand in hand. But if you must have a reason to pick this up it’s should be the addition of the previously unreleased B-side “Who Falls Apart” a breaking down of how your favorite groups fell the f*ck off, which pretty much sums up the feeling and drive behind the album.

While this 7 cut mini-album might not really satisfy the listener as the first full length did, it’s a nice reminder that this duo still exists and that not all our favorite crews haven’t fell apart.
