Sixth Sense is a Bronx, via Westchester, MC who has been doing it for a good bit now. When Rawkus came up with there Rawkus 50 idea (digitally releasing 50 underground albums) he was one of the first people they got at.
The beats on It’s Coming Soon are handled by Sixth Sense (7 tracks) and Frequency (5 tracks). The production is the highlight of the album. You might not know either, but as producers they deliver. Maybe you heard Frequency’s work and not realized it. He did "Think About It" on Snoop Dogg’s The Blue Carpet Treatment. It was one of the standouts on that album and he and Sixth show you that wasn’t a fluke. From the slow soulful "Frenzy" to the more upbeat "Live!" to the slow jamish "Pop it Off" all the songs on the album are well crafted. You can tell Sixth and Frequency spent time perfecting the songs.
As an MC sixth is extra medium. He can ride the beat and spit the lyrics, but he dosen’t really say anything that make you stop and rewind. Sixth isn’t wack, he gets the job done, he just doesn’t shine. But he does a good enough job to keep it moving. Sixth Sense holds down the album pretty much by himself with guests from his Notherground crew on only a couple tracks.
It’s Coming Soon is a decent album once you play it. Although it doesn’t have any songs or moments that you want to hear on repeat, to give it more listens. – Dan Gizzi
