Q-Tip will finally, finally see the release of his long shelved 2001 Arista LP, Kamaal The Abstract, on September 15th, courtesy of Battery Records, a division of Jive/RCA. Yes, that “Stanky Leg” money is being put to good use.

The album was originally slated for 2002 release on Arista, which featured the rapper singing over live instrumentation, produced by himself and J. Dilla. In this pre-Gnarls Barkley, pre-808′s & Heartbreaks era, the label saw it as too big of a risk and shelved it indefinitely. Tip has been working hard to secure the rights back from BMG/Arista since 2007. – DJ Pizzo
