This is making a little bit more sense now…. After news broke out yesterday that LL Cool J would appear on the debut episode of Sarah “It’s Too Hard To Be Governor of Alaska!” Palin’s new Fox News show, Real American Stories, the internet was set ablaze by Cool J’s questionable choice to help kick off the show.
In a statement released via Twitter today, LL said, “Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else and are misrepresenting the public in order to promote Sarah’s show.”
The “fair and balanced” news (?) network responded with the following statement: “Real American Stories” features uplifting tales about overcoming adversity and we believe Mr. Smith’s interview fit that criteria. However, as it appears that Mr. Smith does not want to be associated with a program that could serve as an inspiration to others, we are cutting his interview from the special and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career.”
Nice little dig in there at the end, huh? It gets even better. Today, country music superstar Toby Keith – whom we couldn’t tell you anything about – also chimed in suggesting that he had no idea an interview of his would be used for evil.
Toby’s publicist spoke with the New York Times, also unaware that Fox was trying to Mixtape DJ him.
“I have no idea what interview they are using. Toby’s talked to Fox a number of times, and I had no idea that this was going to be on Sarah Palin’s special. Fox has never contacted me — not now, not when they were putting this together, not at all. I have no idea what they’re using.” [Source: NYT]
