Def Jux head El-P posted the following information regarding weareallgoingtoburninhellmeggamixxx3 via his blog.

the above is a drawing/painting/something my boy travis millard (google him) did for the inside of the weareallgoingtoburninhellmeggamixxx3. its not the cover. anyway, im done with this shit. it took me longer than i thought it would. originally it was the the weareallgoingtoburninheavenmeggamix vol.1 because at the time i thought i was only going to be taking my favorite songs off the meggamixx series and giving them the full mix treatment and release it properly. as those of you who have those records probably know, the series basically consisted of random shit that either never made it to any albums or was hard to find. none of it was mixed. just sort of a hodgepodge of shit i would put together in mixtape form and sell at shows cause i thought some of my fans might appreciate it. only 500 copies of each were pressed.

anyway as i was collecting shit to put on this new mix it started coming together in a much different way than i had originally intended. instead of stuff from the previous meggamixxes, i ended up using only stuff that had never been released. beats that i had in some form or another that i had never fleshed out or used on a record. so i fleshed them out and im using them on this record, and the result is a full on original instrumental album (with the exception of a few pieces that have floated around over the last year, but not in any physical way). its not just a collection of beats. there are transitions, breakdowns, blends… instead of throwing some shit on there and calling it a record i instead ended up crafting a record that (i think) actually makes sense sonically. in order to do that i took a different approach technically. we mixed each song, then bounced down the “stems” to each song (paired, mixed tracks of the different instruments i.e: all drums, all synths, all guitars, etc) so that i could chop up and create transitions between and throughout the songs. this way much of the record feels connected and plays off itself in different ways. i also took the mixed drums of each track and created an 9 minute drum only mix at the end of the record. as far as i can tell the joint comes out in july. its being released internationally through k7 records. i hope you enjoy it. i think its a cool little ditty to hold you over while i work on my next officially official el-p solo album (the true follow up to ISWYD).

love, el
