Rock The Bells Festival just got more interesting, as not only have they officially confirmed the long-rumored performance from Lauryn Hill, but have also added A Tribe Called Quest and Snoop Dogg to the bill.
Hill will perform “a unique set prepared exclusively for Rock the Bells, featuring songs from her critically acclaimed album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill spanning through her work with The Fugees and more.”
But what is more interesting is that Snoop and Tribe will look back to the early 90′s and perform their album’s Doggystyle and Midnight Marauders, respectively, in full. This is added to a set list that also includes full-length album performances of Wu-Tang’s Enter The 36 Chambers, Eric B. & Rakim’s Paid In Full, BDP’s Criminal Minded, and Slick Rick’s The Great Adventures of...
DJ Premier has also been added to the tour, and will perform a Gang Starr tribute set.
Already announced artists on the tour include Wu-Tang Clan, Rakim, KRS-One, Slick Rick, Street Sweeper Social Club (Tom Morello + Boots Riley), as well as Murs & 9th Wonder, Wiz Khalifa, the Clipse, Immortal Technique, Brother Ali, Jedi Mind Tricks, Supernatural, DJ Muggs with Ill Bill, Big Sean, Yelawolf and DJ Rocky Rock.
The Rock the Bells Tour begins August 21 in San Bernardino, California at the NOS Events Center. It continues to the Shoreline Amphitheater in San Francisco on August 22, Governors Island in New York on August 28 and finally at Merriweather Post Pavilion, in the D.C. area, on August 29.
