Oakland rapper Del the Funky Homosapien rose to fame in the early 90s, when his unique voice and fresh outlook turned heads in an otherwise gangsta rap-dominated California hip-hop scene. Ironically a first cousin and protege of Ice Cube, Del’s wacky, unconventional style won him a legion of fans and helped elevate his crew Hieroglyphics to the top of the independent hip-hop scene that began to take shape in the late in late 90s. Since then, Del has released acclaimed projects with the likes of Dan The Automater, Gorillaz, El-P and Def Jux, Tame One of Artifacts, and many more, becoming one of the most celebrated artists on hip-hop’s underground circuit. Now, he’s back to help launch High Times Records with a brand new purple 7″ vinyl single, featuring the never-before-released track “Catch A Body,” produced by the Funky Homosapien himself.
