In part 2 of Hard Knock TV’s interview, Hit Boy talks to Nick Huff Barili about growing up mainly with his Mom and 2 Sisters. “I definitely had to grow up a lot faster and I had to learn how to be the man of the house. I had to learn how to take care of myself and protect my Mom and my Sisters.” Hit Boy adds “Its great now cause me and Dad…He is out now [of Jail] and we are building a good relationship.” Hit says that the song “Running in Place” which talks about his father was one of the earlier tracks he recorded for HITstory. “It was something that was just in me.” Hit Boy goes on to talk about when things were going slow for him in 2009 and he only got one placement (with Mary J Blige) the whole year. His friend Ester Dean played him the dvd for The Secret and it helped change his perspective on things. “All I did was change my mental. I started to wake up every morning and say this is going to be the greatest day of my life and I would just appreciate the smallest thing….I’ve been that way since 09 and my life has completely changed.” As the interview continues Hit talks about a beat he made in 2007 that he wanted to give to Kanye West. Hit Boy carried around the beat with him until one day he met Kanye West when Ye came to the studio Hit was at to work with Pharrell. Fast forward to last year, Hit walks us through what was going through his mind when Jay-Z called him out on stage after him and Kanye just performed the Hit Boy produced track “Niggas in Paris” 12 times in a row.
