From Straight Shooters: “If it feels like Straight Shooters took the summer off from podcasting it’s because we did but only in the hopes of bringing you a better show. Our first guest back is the illustrious rhyme slayer Joell Ortiz, 1/4 of the rap supergroup SlaughterHouse.

The best way to describe Joell Ortiz is that of a humble beast. He’s genuinely appreciative and humbled by those who respect his craft but for those who don’t, you’re just an easy target that he can’t wait to pick off. The Yaowa General himself kicked it with us and talked about “House Slippers”, his third studio album due out September 16th. His close relationship with his fans and why the “bringing back NY” slogan is wack.

Never one to shy away from real issues that affect his community Joell offered his condolences to the families of Eric Garner and Mike Brown who both lost their lives at the hands of overzealous police officers this summer. He warned black and brown people to “be careful and to be aware, these are different times we’re living in. If things don’t get better, there’s going to be an uprising.” Make sure to listen in, gems were dropped. Support Joell Ortiz’s next project House Slippers, he sounds more focused and honest than ever. Big shout out to Dennis… YAOWA!!!”
