To say that Elzhi’s “ELmatic” has been a labor of love would be an understatement. The idea was first broached years ago by DJ House Shoes and discussed and bandied about incessantly since. T3 dismisses recent talks of beefs and break-ups of Slum Village and some of the motivations behind the tracks on Villa Manifesto.

31 July, 2010 4:50 am

On paper, the prospect of a *new* Slum Village album – at this point in the game – just sounds like a bad idea. Two of the core members, J. Dilla and Baatin have passed away, and there’s already a shroud of negativity surrounding the group’s final LP, Villa Manifesto, as remaining members T3 and [cont.]

Looks like Villa Manifesto will be the last Slum Village LP. Being that two of the original members have passed, it seems kind of an obvious conclusion, but Twitter blew up today with #ripslumvillage posts, but something isn’t right with the remaining members – obviously some behind the scenes drama going on, judging from the [cont.]

Truly standing out as the late coming member of the acclaimed group Slum Village, Elzhi basically had the difficult task of filling the void left after J Dilla’s departure.  Well, with impressive talent through sharp lyricism, Elzhi lived up to the expectations set by wowing listeners on Slum Village projects, as well as guest appearances.  It [cont.]

HHS: When were you approached about joining Slum Village?  Was it something that came about out of the blue or was it a “if something happens, would you be down” scenario?
