Over two-years in the making and 200+ hours of interview footage shot, actor Michael Rappaportis helping spearhead a documentary on A Tribe Called Quest, entitled Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest. The film begins at the group’s historical reunion at the 2008 Rock The Bells festival, and picks up from there, examining what the future holds for the group, as well as their influence as a whole. Interviews have been conducted with numerous artists about the group, including Pharrell, Nas, Mos Def, Travis Barker, Ludacris, Beastie Boys, Santogold, Mary J. Blige, Monie Love, Busta Rhymes, Pete Rock, Large Professor, Too $hort, De La Soul, The Jungle Brothers, Common and many others. They have launched a YouTube channel, releasing partial interviews with some of the artists, as well as an official website that follows progress on the film. A rough cut of the film has been completed, and the filmmakers hope to release it during 2010.
