Alex Wiley gives dap to Canadian currency, raps while go-karting, and experiences some serious lean in his new video for “Splash Game (Self Doubt)”. The video was shot by Visual Mecca while Wiley was on tour with Nitty Scott earlier this summer. The song is from Alex Wiley’s recently released mixtape, Village Party, and is one of the emerging artist’s favorites from the project.

“The song is about when you’re just doubting yourself and breaking out of it,” he told Billboard’s The Juice, who premiered the video. “For me, it’s this one phrase: ‘Damn, I’m doing this wrong. I should be doing this…’ And [then] I’ll be like, ‘Wait, I’m that ni–a.’ That just helps me snap back into the right train of thought.”

Village Party was released on June 5, 2014. The mixtape has garnered wide praise from fans as well as critics, who recognize Village Party as Wiley’s most adventurous and full release to date. Thus far Village Party has landed on best of 2014 lists from XXL & Fakeshoredrive, while Alex has also been dubbed an artist you need to know right now by the Huffington Post and received similar titles from Chicago Magazine, Nylon, HypeTrak, High Snobiety, and more.

“Splash Game (Self Doubt)” is the fourth video to be released from Village Party, following “Vibration”, “Own Man”, and “Ideas (Adderall)”. It comes just before Alex hits the road for a string of dates, including the North Coast Music Festival in Chicago, IL.
