Tried to find the least douchey picture of Trey possible, the above is the end result, “We Love Money” t-shirt and all. Anyway, gotta preface that Trey’s LP did not review well over here. HOWEVER, why is it that Trey can get on other peoples beats and kill it? Kinda digging his take on Gucci’s [cont.]

Rakaa gives us another glimpse of the Crown Of Thorns LP, this time with “Connect The Dots”, as heard on Babu’s UStream performance this past week. Props for the first person to call that sample… Rakaa-Iriscience – “Connect The Dots (Radio Rip)” (MP3)

Your favorite mush-mouthed rapper returns with “She Got It Made”, laced with… wait for it…. “Gucci and Prada”! This song is *not* a remake of Special Ed’s “I Got It Made” (what were we thinking) – nah, it’s a re-imagining of Rupert Holmes “Escape”. It’s just commercial enough that it will garner a few spins, [cont.]

Obviously these two are trying to pump out another “Sexy Chick” (pause), so far with “Takin’ It Off” already making a little noise, and now this. Production works for what it is, however Akon’s stuff here seems a little dated, loosely referencing Eddie Murphy’s “Party All The Time” and Prince’s “1999″. And who says “party [cont.]

There is still no release date in the Universal database for The Game’s R.E.D., so take this with a grain of salt…. Still, this copy of the track came over directly from an insider at the label, with the artwork embedded in it. Looks like Game is channeling Ice-T’s The Iceberg / Freedom Of Speech…Just [cont.]

Nick Catchdubs and Proper Villains rework of Kidz In The Hall’s “Flickin’” gives the track a b-more and electro-hop feel, making this an ideal version for the big club….. Digging this on many levels…. Don’t forget, Kidz In The Hall’s Land Of Make Believe is in stores next week….. Kidz In The Hall – “Flickin [cont.]

The Drakeover has begun, literally….. First single from his forthcoming Young Money official solo debut, Thank Me Later…. Drake’s songs have always had a minimalist quality to them, and when this one starts off, you aren’t sure where he’s going with it, given it’s cinematic strings and almost train-of-thought sung stanzas. Then the beat kicks [cont.]

Wow, Rae is killing this beat with the Wu-Tang slang. Definitely plenty of rewind moments on this one and you won’t even understand why….. “This here’s a freestyle bonanza, let them niggas eat this right here….” Raekwon + Alchemist – “Wallys & Pringles (Freestyle)” (MP3)

“Some hors d’oeuvres for the people… appetizers before the lobster and steak…shrimp cocktail and all that, lobster bisque soup, extra marinara.” His words, not ours. Taken from the forthcoming mixtape, Camoflage Season. N.O.R.E. – “Freestyle For The World” (MP3)
