Not quite sure what the deal is with this one – it’s essentially a cover of a remix that jacks a classic – you can figure out the math from there. Snoop pretty much word-for-word regurgitates Cube’s original verses, while The Hustle Boyz take a break from hustling to do their best Das Efx impression, [cont.]

Just when you think it’s about time to write Fat Joe off, he comes back and flips the script completely. As he states in the first verse of “Ha Ha”, commercial records like Snoop’s “I Wanna Rock” and Jay-Z’s “Empire State Of Mind” have paved the way for the raw east coast sound of production [cont.]

Collective Efforts – Crazy Things from collective efforts on Vimeo. Produced by Diamond D, Collective Efforts mesh classic D.I.T.C. flavor with live instrumentation. This is the first single from their “Freezing World” album, due February 16th. Video directed by Green Leather Sofa.

I guess the Warriorz-era M.O.P. ruined it for me. This is some nice, rugged and raw Domingo shit, but I want that “Ante Up” energy. Actually tho, judging from the cover this seems to be GP100 single featuring M.O.P. M.O.P. & GP 100 – “Welcome To The House Of Wolves” (Mp3)

First offering from Gorillaz upcoming third LP, Plastic Beach, due out March 9th. Not sure if Danger Mouse is involved this time around, but as usual we get an eclectic mix of legendary artists, this time Mos Def, soul singer Bobby Womack, and of course Damon Albarn. The track is reminiscent of Def’s cover of [cont.]

Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happiness” is finally ready for the club, with Tony Arzadon’s new remix, which adds aggro-electro stabs and somewhat of a dirty dutch breakdown to the Lonely Stoner’s infectious, melodic new single. I always thought Benny Benassi’s remix was a bit too over-the-top, so this brings it back down to earth a [cont.]

Not to be confused with Rich Boy, Rich Girl is diva-group formed by Rich “Crazy In Love” Harrison. I’ve been following their stuff for a minute now, giving their last single “He Ain’t With Me Now” some spins in the early evenings. Their new song, “Trouble” has Harrison’s usual horn-driven flair to it (perhaps the [cont.]

Last time Snoop & Jay-Z teamed up we got the stellar “Drop It Like It’s Hot” remix, which truly outdid the original. Honestly, I was never that impressed with Snoop’s jacking of the “It Takes Two” intro for “I Wanna Rock”, and it still gets lukewarm results in the club. However the new Jay-Z verse [cont.]

Yeah, Ur-sher’s got another scorcher here from his Raymond Vs. Raymond LP, due next month, this time produced by will.i.am. As usual, will’s been digging in the house crates for his influences, and this one clearly comes from the international sports anthem “Kernkraft 400″ by Zombie Nation, with it’s stadium sized, catchy crowd “Oh’s”. The [cont.]

I guess the best way to describe Black Point and crew is like a Spanish version of the Ying Yang Twinz – as basically the same goofiness translate into some kind of high energy party song. The original version of this song took DJ Class’s “I’m The Ish” beat, which didn’t excite me too much, [cont.]

Is it too early to remake this song? While Monie Love covered this in the early ’90′s, sounds like Jay Sean’s got this updated version just right. The beat itself is remeniscient of P. Diddy’s “Come To Me”, yet still remains the vibey goodness of the original Stevie Wonder / Spinners sample. Some may cry [cont.]

This song has been out for a while, produced by the Jump Smokers, with the usual, standard Pitbull hoo-hah’s and the JS’s patented electro sound. Interesting is this latest remix from Afrojack, whom you might know from remixes for David Guetta, Kid Cudi, etc. We get the usual flavor from them here, as the new [cont.]

Apathy, Ryu of Styles of Beyond and producer Scoop Deville have teamed up to form The Get Busy Committee, which is sort of throwback group project which Ap describes as “havin’ fun, doing some different shit”. They released their first track, “Little Razor Blade” in January via YouTube, which should give you an idea of [cont.]

Rick Ross lends his vocals to Drake’s current smash hit, “Best I Ever Had”, complete with Michael Jackson reference. Might be good for deejays that want to add something different to their set, but I wouldn’t touch it. – DJ Pizzo Download: Rick Ross “Best I Ever Had” – MP3

Ras Kass will return to the game after a long hiatus with his new “Quarterly” mixtape, dropping sometime within the next month. “Mike Jacks” is the latest in a series of MJ tributes we’ve seen over the last week, where Razzy pulls an Ice Cube, playing “Jackin’ For Beats” over various beats from the King [cont.]

The first commercial release by Nas after being the subject of Jay-Z’s painfully humiliating verse in “The Takeover” isn’t a direct retaliation, but a proclamation of Nas’ standing in the hip-hop game. While the consensus is that Nas is almost incapable of a suitable reply, “Salute Me (The General)” shows that he can still pen a [cont.]

Wu-Tang’s first effort from The W takes things back to the original 36 chambers with the curiously titled “Protect Ya Neck: The Jump Off”. Pretty simple formula here, using a “Tramp” bassline, along with some Cuban Link style guitars, while the clan runs it down the line. This should be an easy favorite for longtime [cont.]

Yo, wasn’t Jo-Ell like Superman’s half-cousin, once removed or some sh*t? I don’t know if this is supposed to be one guy or two but there’s definitely two emcees on this joint and from the subtitle of the “How They Do” (“from PA to BK”) I’m assuming one reps Philly, the other the Planet. Don’t call it a comeback. As one of the bright one-hit wonders of the late ’90s, Camp Lo’s blaxploited vocab and attitude had style to spare for days but you got the feeling that they could only tap that formula for about one album until it started playing themselves. Perhaps knowing that, Camp Lo switches [cont.]

I gotta say I was thoroughly unimpressed with the original version of “Open”, a track which seemed to lack any sense of movement or much emotion. This “Open Remix” changes all of that. Using a slight re-working of the “Eric B. is President” beat as a foundation, The Beatminerz take you back to ’88 and deliver [cont.]
